CTBTA Announces Appointment of New Slate of Officers

The Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance, Inc. (CTBTA) is proud to announce the appointment of its new slate of officers who will help guide the organization as it continues its mission to support patients, families, and caregivers affected by brain tumors across Connecticut, effective January 1, 2026.

The CTBTA’s Board of Directors has appointed Katie Trainer as its new Chair. Trainer first joined the board in 2020 as a Director and currently serves as its Secretary. Her involvement in the CTBTA is personal, as her father endured a courageous eight-month battle with GBM. She has been a longstanding advocate for the brain tumor community and will bring deep passion and leadership experience to the role.

Dave Lemkuil will continue serving as Vice Chair, and David Forrest will continue his tenure as Treasurer, providing consistent stewardship of the organization’s financial health. The CTBTA also welcomes Roger Dunlap as its newly elected Assistant Treasurer and Julie Dougherty as Secretary, both bringing valuable expertise and dedication to the Board.

CTBTA CEO Chris Cusano expressed his enthusiasm for the new leadership team, saying “I’m eager and excited to work alongside this talented group of officers. Their passion for our mission and commitment to the brain tumor community will help propel the CTBTA forward in meaningful ways.”

Cusano also shared his gratitude for outgoing Chair Dan Tapper, who served in the role for the past three years. “We are deeply appreciative of Dan’s tireless service, vision, and dedication. His leadership played a pivotal role in elevating the CTBTA and expanding our impact statewide.”

Looking ahead to 2026, the CTBTA is preparing for a full calendar of events that continue to support its mission, including the Path of Hope on May 9th, Brainstormin’ on September 17th, and GivingTuesday on December 1st. These events are key opportunities to raise awareness, provide community support, and further advocacy for individuals and families affected by brain tumors throughout Connecticut.
