October 14, 2015
The Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance ("CTBTA") donated $35,000 to Connecticut Children's Medical Center on September 25, 2015 to further Pediatric Brain Tumor research, as well as support local Patient Assistance funds.
$10,000 was allocated for Patient Assistance funds, created by the CTBTA and disbursed throughout the year by Connecticut Children's, to help families affected by brain tumors pay for important needs like grocery or electric bills while they are busy with the care of their child and for lodging assistance during treatment.
An additional $25,000 was allocated for Pediatric Brain Tumor research conducted by Connecticut Children's Medical Center with the hope that a major advancement in brain tumor detection and treatment will be discovered here in the Hartford area. For more on their work, please visit their website.
The Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance includes all-volunteer board with thirteen members comprised of patients, caregivers, and affected family dedicated to the support of local Connecticut families who have been afflicted by brain cancer and brain tumors. They have events throughout the year to support the cause with the purpose to show patients and caregivers that they are not alone in this fight.
