Michael Wright, a Glioblastoma survivor, was recently named as an Ambassador to the Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance, Inc. ("CTBTA") in the Farmington Valley region of Connecticut. An Ambassador is a regional volunteer who advocates on behalf of the CTBTA as a representative in the community, helping to reach new patients and caregivers, as well as donors, sponsors, and volunteers who support the cause. As an Ambassador, his territory will include the communities of Simsbury, Canton, Avon, Burlington, Newington, New Britain, Farmington, Berlin, Bristol, Wolcott, Plainville and Southington, as well as Bristol Hospital, the University of Connecticut Health Center, and the Hospital of Central Connecticut.
Diagnosed just under a year ago, Mike likes staying involved as an active volunteer with Simsbury Youth Sports and the CTBTA. "I was able to use the CTBTA to compare treatments and ask questions," Michael said in accepting his Ambassador position.
"I wish I had known about CTBTA prior to my diagnosis. My goal as an Ambassador will be to help others to get the support they need. I plan to do this by spreading awareness of our services in my assigned geography and to help drive sponsorship, so we can afford to continue and expand our services."
A graduate of Saint Bonaventure University with a degree in business, Michael has a background in sales and marketing, having worked at GE Healthcare for many years. He is now a Business Development Director with Tata Consultancy Services.
Michael lives with his wife and children in West Simsbury, Connecticut, where he volunteers for the Simsbury Youth Lacrosse team.
