Eat Pizza in May and Go Gray with Lisa's Luna PizzaMay 6, 2016
Lisa's Luna Pizza at Simsbury Commons in Simsbury, Connecticut is going gray this May. They aren't redecorating with a gray color scheme. They aren't dimming the lights. This local favorite is raising funds and awareness for Brain Tumor Awareness Month -- Going Gray for the color of brain tumor awareness -- by donating $1 for every large pizza sold during the month of May.
Owner Lisa Maurer, who previously raised funds for the cause at Lisa's Luna Pizza last May by selling awareness stickers created by twelve-year old Morgan Platt, explained her inspiration for the campaign. "In 2011, at just 7 years old, Morgan was diagnosed with a brain tumor. With grace and fierceness, Morgan has been fighting and beating the disease with ongoing chemotherapy. Morgan is an advocate for brain cancer patients and has raised awareness about the disease through fundraising and the production of two videos, Roar and Fight Song. She is an inspiration to us all and has chosen the Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance ("CTBTA") as her charity for this fundraiser."
So, as Lisa says, "Eat pizza in May! You can be part of a movement to raise awareness and funds to help those affected by brain cancer!"
